Tea dates back to 5,000 years. Wild tree leaves blew into a Chinese emperor's pot of boiling water. The aroma enticed him to drink and to enjoy. Since then, tea has made its way across the world. Likewise, in 1820 my ancestor named Cornelia was enslaved and brought across the world. Through the decades, drinking tea soothed and healed the mind, body, and soul of the women in my family. It has been the heartstring that has connected and transformed us over the years.
