Reading this book to my granddaughter not only sparked an excitement in her imagination, but brought back vivid memories from my childhood. Each page is wonderfully illustrated with authentic imagery. I enjoyed the subtle yet profound insertion of notable quotes and persons throughout the book. I appreciate and applaud the author's overall message and her ability to capture the experiences of many children in impoverished areas. I'm excited to add this book to my collection of children's books.

This fictional story is one filled and written with love. From the characters names to the beautiful illustrations, this book is beyond amazing. This story is a reminder of how important it is to encourage our youth to dream. I’m so excited to add this to my classroom library! Retelling a story, problem and solution, Black History and Women’s History Month …the list of teaching and exposure opportunities are endless! I love this book!!
